A Sun Baked Summer

A new colour palette has arisen for menswear this summer that includes warm and rich terracotta tones inspired by the colours of the desert and powdered spice rack shades! Focusing on different shades of tan, brown and burnt orange as the main colours being spices such as ginger, nutmeg and paprika. Look for dried out earth based tones and of course ethnic influences to update the usual preppy/ resort look this summer.  Solid colours are used on tops and bottoms, with stripes and colour blocked panelling to bring the colour blocking trend back to light, it’s a sure fail-safe way of mixing colours and not looking too mismatched!

If you’re wanting to spice things up a bit and add a splash of contrast to the warm tones, then opt for teal and aqua for a fresh and vibrant combination. Or for a more modern and sharp contrast go for black, stone shades and be understated, cool and contemporary with different white on white tone mixtures.

Relaxed tailoring bodes perfectly with this warm colour palette as cotton/linen tailored garments are brought to trend in earthy tones and blazers are paired with summer essentials like chinos and shorts. But summer sportswear also has elements of this colour palette, with matt finishes and smart suede’s that bring different components to the trend.

The Burberry S/S 12 collection uses this palette combining it with the tribal/ethnic trend, including bright accents on terracotta with geometric embellishment.

Here’s some product selections perfect for establishing this popular colour trend:
