Colour Combination: Mustard And Navy

Mmm Mustard. It’s a nice addition to your hot dog in the summer, but it’s also been highlighted as a key colour for this spring/summer 2012 season. The problem is a lot of guys don’t know how to wear mustard and get turned off automatically, and if you do get it wrong you can be left looking like spillage of mustard rather than a tasty addition. It’s all about what colours we pair it with, and remember there’s two ways to wear any brighter hue.

As A Statement

Wear the colour proudly making it a focal part of your look. Pair it with lighter tones or neutral colours, as this will really draw attention to the statement colour. In this case, navy is the neutral colour which will really bring out the mustard.

Subtly

If you like a colour but don’t want to create too much of a statement simply layer or pair along side the colour with darker tones to neutralise the bright colour. Make sure the colours you’re working with compliment each other nicely.

Get The Look

When looking to pull of this look our aim here is to really draw the attention towards the colour combination, and we can utilise the combination through the top layers, and add lighter toned clothing to again bring out the focal colour.

Here’s some pieces on the market today which will help establish this colour combination…

This colour combination is refreshing to see in the summer, instead of going for the brightest colours possible think carefully when choosing colour combinations.
