Fashion Spotlight: Bottega Veneta
Luxury Italian brand Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966 when it first started producing high end luxury goods. As well as high end catwalk fashion the brand is renowned for its artistry which it bestows upon its leather goods, till now still using their signature way of leather weaving. Although primarily starting out in leather accessories Bottega Veneta began producing its own ready-to-wear menswear in 2006, a few years after it was acquired as a brand by the Gucci Group. Since then the brand has gone from strength to strength branching out into fine jewellery and eyewear and has reverted to its foundations of discrete fashion that isn’t defined by its labelling and branding.
For S/S 12 the brand opted for an injection of denim, whether it was morphed into a leather suit or in a suit all of its own – denim was all over this catwalk. Beiges, blues and greys were the predominately dominant colour choices for the Italian brand. Rugged materials paired with tie-dye were also present as were chequered tailored looks. Bright colours give the collection a refreshing cocktail vibe with vibrant blues and oranges both being included. The show also picked up on S/S trends such as pastels and safari but opted for a more subtle approach in the typically sophisticated Bottega Veneta way.
