It seems like fashion is moving backwards instead of forwards – first we have seen that men’s fashion is taking inspiration from the nineties and eighties, and now the same thing is happening for footwear.
I find it quite amusing when I see my 19 year old brother in shoes pretty much the same as my dad – which is proving how much fashion has, yet hasn’t changed at all. One of the most popular styles of shoe at the moment is a trainer – something that has always been a part of a men’s wardrobe but suddenly has been pushed into the spotlight with old styles returning with a more colourful makeover. These styles prove that matching colours isn’t always a good thing, with greens mixed with blues mixed with red – all on the same shoe! Keep the rest of the outfit simple if you are planning on getting a colourful pair, or you could always give the plain white reebok classic high tops a try.
These shoe trends are either very casual, or very smart – and if you are looking for something on the smarter side then go for a pair of loafers, in a dark brown or deep red, these will look great with a pair of drainpipe jeans and a blazer. Loafers come in a variety of styles, go for a plain pair if you are trying something new; then if you are feeling a bit more adventurous try a pair with a tassel on the front for a more fashionable edge.
What ever style you go for, you will be able to give a nod to the trends of the past by trying a different pair of shoes.
