The Cambridge Satchel Menswear Range

You may not of heard of the Cambridge Satchel Company – and if you have then you will know that they are very popular in the fashion world, mainly with bloggers and other fashion conscious women. And now come autumn 2013 they will be popular for men also as the famous satchel company are due to release their first menswear range of bags.

The UK based company was founded in 2008 by Julie Deane and her mother, and what started off with just a handful of homemade bags a week – soon exploded into a world wide trend within the fashion community, and they have been in high demand ever since. The bag itself is based on the traditional Oxford and Cambridge style satchels that children used to use as school bags, made out of leather and produced in England. The satchel is actually described as unisex but its range of bright, neon and metallic colours make it more appealing for women, I think this is why the company have designed a range solely for men.

The menswear collection is going to include 75 different pieces that give the classic satchel and backpack a more masculine take by introducing different colours such as blues, pale greys and dark greens – making them much easier to wear with all different types of outfits. The bags come in two sizes (14” and 15”) so it can be used with casual outfits such as with jeans and a jumper; or you can use it instead of a briefcase for work – the dark green option would look great with a black suit and tanned accessories.

The Cambridge Satchel Company also have a range of storage trunks for sale online – I love these and feel that they would look great in anyone’s home office to store important documents and other bits and bobs, they will bring a bit of sophistication to any room and come in a range of colours.

Prices for the women’s satchels start at around £95 and I can imagine the men’s options to be around the same sort of price – it doesn’t break the bank and I love the fact that it is quintessentially British, and has that nostalgia from the days when you were back at school, which funnily enough was Deane’s target market when she first started designing them. I have a feeling my other half will be putting a Cambridge Satchel on his Christmas list next year. To find out more, visit The Cambridge Satchel Company.
