The Camo Trend: Revisited

Camouflage has been a huge trend for SS2012, AW2012 AND seems to be seeping it’s way through to Spring/Summer2013 as well. Its recent peak in commercial relevance has been developed throughout variations of style print and tone, creating almost capsule trends out of patterns and graphic prints.

The reoccurring print story began emerging again at the beginning of this year on the streetwear market but happened to spread across to both menswear and womenswear.

Authentic camouflage patterns are key, whether your daring enough to brave the full statement with an outerwear-print or the subtle type where detailed linings and internal pocket bags are all you want to give your wardrobe a fresh camo update.

Advancing through into spring/summer 2013 the camo trend doesn’t seem to have any intentions of leaving. Recent trade show coverage shows Pitti Uomo, Capsule in Paris, Bread & Butter, and London’s Jacket Required presenting the forest greens and sandy tones.

At present it’s all about functional outerwear, heavy weight shirting and knitwear and as far as trends go in this region camo currently ranking above the rest.

These are fundamental pieces for perfecting this seasons military-inspired trend. High-street kings Allsaints in particular have excelled on this, with so many different camo options to suit every kind of man.

Key details include mismatched-pattern patchwork stripes, pixelated effects, heavily faded washes, dark overdyed camo-style tropical prints and woven tonal pattern fabric; casually thrown together through the use of utilitarian shirts, denim jackets and chinos. The colour palette for this season is what really makes the trend, and is the reason as to why it is so easy to wear for whatever kind of man you may be. The palette pulls together tones such as, olive, khaki, yellow, black, grey, navy and cadet blue.

The camo trend is so versatile your probably rocking it now without even noticing. It doesn’t have to be so casual anymore and it certainly moving away from its original stigma. In fact, camouflage has made more headway this year in its exciting new edge that it’s contributing on the tailoring scope.

It can be daunting to experiment with a print so bold as camo, especially with the traditional social stigma that often accompanies it, but the best thing to do is go out and try – chances are, you’ll probably surprise yourself.

But if ever in doubt always rememeber, most prints or loud features pair well with neutrals tones or old faithful garments; this will make you feel more comfortable with what your wearing, and this hint of being content will immediately help you pull the style off 10 times better.

Fashion is a so open to suggestion, and style is just fashion tapered down to a pinnacle point.

Good style?  – Is working out a system of what and how outfits work.

Great style is throwing something together because it feels right for you and being confident enough to wear it with conviction.
