An Introduction To Toms
Toms have been running since 2006 and are the brainchild of Blake Mycoskie after he witnessed the children in Argentina without protection for their feet. He had the ingenious idea to create a stylish shoe for the common market and through this pledging to give a child in need a pair every time his company’s product was purchased; ‘One for One’.
This holiday season, Toms have released their ‘Holiday Lookbook’ with whole host of new styles, materials and great products for Men, women and children.
For us men, the company have introduced a range of boots, or ‘botas’ into the Toms world, and also a desert take on the oxford and ‘bota’. The boots are a great introduction for this season as they allow us to keep our feet that tad bit warmer in these cold months but also to stay bang on trend.
They would look great with a pair of rolled up jeans/chinos and some thick socks and jumper/scarf for that ‘English country’ look.
A duffel coat would be the perfect winter piece to team with these and if the colours are kept to minimal grey or classic beige and dark trousers, then the shoes will seamlessly add that hint of fun and consciousness to the outfit.
The ‘bota’ has also been released with a new design specially for Movember; the grey twill shoes have a small burgundy moustache adorning the side, allowing you to not only help a child in need but also a great men’s health cause too. The ‘desert oxfords’ take a classic design and give it a new, relaxed feel; this gives them the freedom to be worn with maybe a sports jacket/blazer for those more casual smart affairs we all find ourselves in from time to time.
For the Toms we all know by now, the ‘classic’ styles are still around but with a new lease of life with an injection of new patterns and colours for this season. The toned down palette for autumn/winter is apparent across the range yet certain styles have the availability of a brighter appearance for those of us with a bit more flare. It’s no longer the weather to be teaming them with a pair of shorts, therefore put with a pair of slim fitting jeans that just sit comfortably on the top of the shoe or have enough length to create a bit of bagginess around the ankle and either maybe a pea coat or a healthy number of layers on the top for that casual everyday feel.
Have fun with Toms, they’re a brand which add uniqueness to your look.
